When you’re expecting, what you most want is a healthy baby. Truly. Second to that are gender hopes and guesses. I get SO excited when my clients wait to find out the gender. This couple was already blessed with a boy, and they were waiting until baby #2’s arrival to find out pink or blue… I was also giddy with curiosity — would I bring blue swaddles or tiny headbands?

Charlie and I waited to find out gender for our first and third babies. That anticipation can’t be beat (what a motivator to get through the last weeks of pregnancy!), and the final moment when baby arrives and you learn — son, or daughter? — is just incredible. The pieces of the puzzle just fall into place. You finally know. That said, I also wanted to find out baby #2 in advance — I totally get why you do so! We had a boy, and I had to know if we’d have a daughter. I simply couldn’t wait. And I full out sobbed (thanks, crazy pregnancy hormones!) happy tears when we found out “it” was a “she.”

The email from this mama arrived – girl!! A sweet surprise, and both she and her mama were healthy and well. As a mother, a woman, there is just something about having a daughter. The bond between this mama and her little girl was already so deep, they were so connected. Mama was glowing, baby girl so peaceful in her mother’s arms. Simply beautiful.
