Why does everything always seem to hit at once? Such was the case for this family, who wrapped up full home renovation and moved just two weeks before their second baby arrived. The house was ready for them just in the nick of time!
It puts things in perspective though. While the timing was tight, they so grateful to be in their long-awaited new home. They handled the presence of contractors wrapping up a few projects alongside their newborn’s first days like it was no big deal at all. Their two-year old excitedly showed off his new room and dumped out his signature matchbox cars all over the floor for me. They’d prioritized well (IMO): They’d unpacked and placed framed family photographs and artwork, including many works painted and sketched by the mama’s grandmother, on the mantle and walls. Toys were out, baby gate at the top of the stairs, and blackout shades hung in big brother’s room. The kitchen was stocked and well in use. Sure, there were moving boxes left, but they’d quickly made the new house their home.
Baby W’s newborn session reflected that – it was laid back, simply about being together in their new place. It was a chance to hit ‘pause’ in this transitional time. We discovered together what window light was available and worked with it. Big brother got to chose his own shirt. They gathered on the floor in front of the wall mama had just painted in her last week of pregnancy – what a super mom! They simply were, and were grateful — for their home, for this six-day old baby.
Enjoy this peak at his newborn session… and welcome home, sweet boy.
And just a quick addition to his session… here’s Baby W., and his big brother almost three years ago. Love these two!!
