I have to tell you the story behind the location we used for this fall mini session.
Last fall I learned of Dog Tag Bakery, which has an amazing mission and menu. DTB provides work experience to veterans, military spouses and caregivers, and has some of the most amazing sweet treats that are NUT FREE. Understanding how severe these allergies are, the bakery strives to be completely peanut and tree nut free.
Our oldest is severely allergic to four specific tree nuts, and as a result, we have to avoid all foods that may contain any tree nuts (because labels don’t specify which tree nuts a food may contain). That means bakeries are a big no-no. We’ve seen him have a full on anaphylactic reaction before. We have to avoid to keep him safe.
So when his school told me about this bakery, I checked it out for his school birthday treats (which have to be store-bought and labeled — so many steps to keep allergy kids safe). The bakery was awesome, and so was the little side alley right beside it! With white-painted brick, and a neutral stone base, it’s great because there is less color casting, and white is a natural reflector. Across the street is a sweet little urban garden and patio area. Perfect for snapping some family photos.
I was thrilled to meet this Arlington family there — I had not seen them since little brother’s newborn photos, so this was just so fun to see them again and catch up! Enjoy this glimpse into their session and a great little photo spot. And I highly recommend you visit and support Dog Tag Bakery!
