Nothing like having a baby in a pandemic, right?!?! Oh my goodness, I’ve been so fortunate to photograph some rockstar parents who’ve had a baby during the Coronavirus pandemic. From having to be extra cautious during pregnancy with lowered immune systems, to laboring and delivering with a mask on, to figuring out who can safely watch older siblings at home while you’re at the hospital, it’s just adding another ten layers of complication and stress to the birthing experience.
So I think these mamas deserve a medal of honor, or maybe a year’s worth of massages, pedicures, and fresh cut flowers when the pandemic has passed. I’ve been amazed by their strength and positive attitudes, and I’ve just loved doing outdoor newborn photographs for them because they’re simply inspiring and motivating to me to keep on keeping on in this tough time.
This family of five knew how to approach an outdoor newborn session in a pandemic with grace and a sense of humor. Baby Boy B. was fussy and hungry, despite good sleep and deliberate feeding time in advance. They stayed so chill and just rolled with his needs, couldn’t help but laugh when he showed off his lungs during photos, and patiently tried all the tricks to get him calm (with success!). Despite all the craziness in the world, we had a lovely time playing and photographing in their gorgeous backyard on a beautiful summer morning. Enjoy this peek at Baby Boy B’s newborn session!
